Indian Language Storytelling & Books in Dutch Libraries

ICIN Storytelling Journey Across The Netherlands

Connecting Children with Indian Languages, Books and Culture

The Indian Center in Netherlands (ICIN) has launched a unique initiative that brings Indian language storytelling and books into Dutch public libraries. What started as a community-driven effort in Eindhoven has now expanded to Veldhoven and Utrecht, with Almere and Rotterdam preparing to join this growing movement.

Through storytelling sessions, multilingual books and cultural engagement, ICIN is helping children stay connected to their mother tongue while encouraging reading, creativity and intercultural understanding.

Indian Language Books Initiative

One of ICIN's most significant achievements is the introduction of Indian language books into Dutch public libraries. Families can now access books in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati, Oriya and several other Indian languages.

These collections help children maintain their linguistic heritage while supporting reading development and cultural awareness.

The initiative aligns strongly with the mission of Dutch libraries to promote diversity, inclusion and lifelong learning.

The Next Chapter

With successful programs in Eindhoven, Veldhoven and Utrecht, ICIN is now preparing to expand to Almere and Rotterdam. The vision is simple: ensure every child has the opportunity to hear stories, discover books and celebrate their cultural heritage in a welcoming public library environment.

Together with libraries, volunteers and community partners, ICIN continues to build bridges through language, literature and storytelling.
